Sobyanin chairs meeting of Urban Development and Land Commission

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin chaired the first meeting of the Urban Development and Land Commission this year. Meeting participants approved projects for the development of several promising city areas.

They approved a design plan for Nature Complex No 55, a park along the Khimki reservoir on Lodochnaya Street in the Northwestern Administrative Area. There are plans to establish a new sport-recreation cluster with an artificial-turf football field on a 1.35-hectare section of this area. The entire facility will also have snap-together stands for 150 spectators, locker room modules and rooms for coaches and sport equipment, as well as a playground and sporting grounds. The adjacent territory will also be refurbished.

The Commission’s members also decided to issue planning permissions for restoring three architectural landmarks: the Forum Electric Theatre at Sadovo-Sukharevskaya Street, the Russian Academic Youth Theatre at Teatralnaya Square and the Pavel Korin House-Museum at Malaya Pirogovskaya Street. Under a planning permission, the owner of  the latter building, the State Tretyakov Gallery, has the right to conduct a comprehensive restoration and to build an extension that will create the long-term popularisation of Pavel Korin’s creative heritage.
