New Residential District to Appear at Serp i Molot Industrial Area

Moscow’s Urban Planning and Land Use Commission, headed by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, approved a plan for the property bounded by Zolotorozhsky Val Street, the driveway of the Serp I Molot Plant, the Entuziastov Motorway and Planned Street No 6626 (Southeastern Administrative Area), and will hold a public hearing on the development.

The 102-hectare land plot is located in a zone that is scheduled for comprehensive redevelopment as part of the Lefortovo District improvement plan. Today this area has 660,000 square meters worth of industrial and social facilities. Some buildings will be preserved whereas others rebuilt and used for new purposes.

The design also includes rebuilding the road system. The reconstruction of the Entuziastov Motorway and Nizhegorodskaya and Bolshaya Cherkizovskaya streets will be tentatively completed until 2017 under the relevant programmes. A system of district and local roads will be built and equipped with new traffic signals; new surface transit stops and routes; the chaotic parking in the driveway of the Hammer and Sickle Plant will be eliminated; and a new road built along the Kursk Railway.
