Winner of Competition for Yuzhny Port Industrial Zone Development to be Announced on June 20

The winner of competition for architectural projects for Yuzhny (South) Port development will be selected on June 20. Among the participants there are world-famous architectural firms, said Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief Architect and Chairman of Moscow Architectural Council, who is a member of the jury.

AEON Corporation and Ferrostroy Compny are organizing an international competition for the best development project for Yuzhny port territory in Moscow. The project covers parts of the industrial zone No. 26 (Yuzhny Port), and the total building area will be 35 hectares. 

«The territory of Yuzhny Port in the future will be a new center of urban life in the southeast of the capital»- says Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief Architect of Moscow. — The unique location will create here a comfortable multifunctional environment that combines places to live, work, active sports and cultural leisure. It can become a unique transport and interchange hub, allowing people, among other things, to change from land transport to river transport. This gives added value to the embankment improvement project in the area, which can become a link in the chain of public spaces along the river. In recent years, open, permeable, comfortable and multifunctional spaces have begun to appear in the city under the leadership of Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. I am sure that now the competition site is the most interesting in the city for the work of architects at the moment and it will allow them to demonstrate all the possibilities of modern architecture."

 The competition participants are already known. The applicants have formed consortia, which include, in addition to the parent organization-competitor, assistants in the creation and adaptation of projects:

• Jahn+Werner Sobek (Pride, CityMakers, Scape);
• KuiperCompagnons (together with MLA+);
• Nikken Sekkei (with Genpro);
• PLP Architecture (Russian Design Team – Apex Project Bureau, Mobility – MIC / Mobility in Chain, Landscape – Land, Site Utilities and Environmental – Atelier Ten);
• Zaha Hadid Architects together with А-project.

On April 16, the first orientation seminar took place, and then the architects will have almost two months to create an architectural project. And on June 20, the winner will be selected.
