Finalists of Competition for Development of Rizhsky Freight Yard Announced

The jury of the open international competition for architectural and urban planning development concept of the Rizhsky freight yardshortlistedthe five finalists. This was announced by Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

Competitive proposals will be worked out by world famous companies and associations:

  • Skidmore, Owings and Merril (USA)
  • Nikken Sekkei (Japan)
  • KCAP (Netherlands), SVESMI (Netherlands/Russia)
  • UNK Project (Russia), RUGBC (Russia)
  • MLA+ (Netherlands), Sergey Kisselev & Partners (Russia)

“The goal of the project is the comprehensive redevelopment of the Rizhsky freight yard and creation of a new urban area on its territory that features the latest architectural and urban planning trends in development of high-quality environments for living, work and leisure.The new mixed-use development should combine a headquarters office block for Russian Railways, a modern residential complex and other corresponding types of real estate” – Sergey Kuznetsov said.

The construction site is located 5 km from the Kremlin in Maryina Roshcha, North-East Administrative District of Moscow, at the intersection of the Third Transport Ring and Prospect Mira. The 4th Maryina Roshcha street bounds the construction site on the west, and the railways in the direction of Riga bounds it on the north. The development area is 20.6 hectares.
