Ulitsa 800-letiya Moskvy Metro Station will be Decorated with May Day Procession Images

27 November 2019

Ulitsa 800-letiya Moskvy metro station will be decorated with panels depicting May 1st parades, Stalin’s high-rises, pioneers and other Soviet times phenomena — the city’s anniversary was celebrated on a grand scale in 1947. Red and light-gray will be the main colors of the station, said Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

Ulitsa 800-letiya Moskvy metro station with two underground vestibules is being built at the intersection of Dmitrovskoye Shosse and 800-letiya Moskvy Street. It passes through the territories of Dmitrovsky, Beskudnikovsky and Vostochnoye Degunino districts. It will be a triple-span station with two rows of columns. Vestibules will be combined with below-street pedestrian crossings on both sides of Dmitrovskoye Shosse.

«The architects have decided to turn the station’s space into an exhibition hall — the tunnel walls will be decorated with panels depicting May Day processions, Stalin’s high-rises, pioneers, airplanes and other historical attributes. At the same time, the design of the platform itself will be unusual — half of the station will be decorated in a bright red color reminding of the Soviet flag, and the other half will be light-gray, long lamps on the ceiling will „stitch“ the two sides like threads. As you remember, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin approved the project to extend the Lyublinsko—Dmitrovskaya line in March this year»- said Sergey Kuznetsov.

The ticket hall will attract passengers’ attention with a geometric pattern on the ceiling — a combination of red and white; someone will recognize Kremlin stars in it, others will see a sea of flags there. Architects of Metrogiprotrans JSC have decided that the station in honor of the 800th anniversary of Moscow should have a memorable dynamic appearance.

It is foreseen to extend the Lyublinsko—Dmitrovskaya line from the main tracks behind the Seligerskaya station along Dmitrovskoye Shosse to the intersection with Savyolovskoye direction of the Moscow Railway. The length of the projected section is 3.9 km; there will be two new stations — Ulitsa 800-letiya Moskvy and Lianozovo.
