Two redevelopment projects approved for South Port industrial zone

17 December 2013

Participants of a Moscow Government meeting approved two redevelopment projects for the South Port industrial zone. Chief Moscow Architect Sergey Kuznetsov said there were plans to redevelop a 130-hectare land plot at the large South Port industrial zone in southeastern Moscow. Currently, this area belongs to several owners, and it has a rudimentary road network.

When implemented, the project will make it possible to reorganise the industrial zone and to improve the road and street network. Plans have also been made to increase the area of local construction sites and the number of jobs from 6,000 to over 10,000. The project is to receive about 18 billion roubles of private investment and an additional 6 billion roubles from budgetary and extra-budgetary sources for developing the road and street network and utility mains.

The project is also intended to reorganise one more industrial zone with an area of 126 hectares near the South Port zone. This territory, which was designated as a developing industrial zone, currently belongs to several owners, including Avtoframos PLC and the Moscow Technopolis.

Under the redevelopment project, there are plans to expand industrial production volumes, as well as the road and street network. About 16,000 jobs will be created there. The Moscow Government plans to attract about 4 billion roubles in private investment and about 500 million roubles in city budget funding.
