Results of the Main Architectural Education and Career Festival Open City-2020

This year the festival, which is held on the initiative and with the support of Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov, was held for the fifth time and brought together more than 3 thousand students of architecture universities.

From the very beginning, the Open City was conceived as an open informal platform where different stakeholders meet and exchange experience - teachers and students, experienced masterful architects, established bureaus and novice specialists, developers and city institutions. The exchange of knowledge, opinions and creative energy was envisaged in all directions, and this idea once again proved its viability.

Thanks to the online format, this year students from not only Moscow, but also from Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Voronezh, Samara, Perm took part in the festival organized by Moskomarkhitektura. Over 300 applications were submitted for participation in the workshops and competitions of the festival. From April to October, 6 workshops, 9 online and offline discussions were held.

This years theme was “Sustainable Architecture and Urban Development in an Unstable World, with Natural Disasters and Growing Metropolitan Areas”.

The events of the Open City covered the central theme of the festival from different angles and aspects, from bigdata and green building to game design, cultural heritage and cities adapting to change.
