Ground pavilion ceiling of Nagatinsky Zaton station will be decorated with «fish scales», and ventilation kiosks will be disguised as a decorative wall-canopy. This was told by Chief Architect of Moscow, First Deputy Chairman of Moskomarkhitektura Sergey Kuznetsov.

«The ground pavilion of the metro station is laconic and is made almost entirely of glass, but already at the entrance, passengers will be immersed in the aesthetics of the station — the ceiling of the pavilion will be made in the form of giant scales of a golden hue. A complex wavy surface will be formed from brass plates,» said Sergey Kuznetsov.

Architects from Za Bor Bureau also developed a proposal for the improvement of the area around the station pavilion. «Ventilation kiosks will be integrated into a decorative canopy wall — an improvement element that separates the area with the ground pavilion from the surrounding area. Such a solution will allow us to actually disguise technical structures,» Sergey Kuznetsov explained.

Nagatinsky Zaton is a river bay, and the image used by the architects is natural and completely obvious — the inhabitants of the rivers of the Moscow region. In the course of work on the project, the ichthyofauna of the capital’s reservoirs was studied and 12 species of fish that inhabit them were drawn with encyclopedic accuracy. The images will be made in the form of granite mosaic panels.

In fact, the station will become a kind of museum dedicated to river inhabitants. The concept of the station did not change, only a small correction was made regarding the dividing track wall — it was decided to make it in black, not white, as originally proposed. It is worth mentioning that the open international competition for the development of the architectural and artistic appearance of two stations Nagatinsky Zaton and Klenovy Bulvar took place in 2017-2018.
