Patients to Be Taken to Botkin Hospital by Air

An ambulance hospital with a helipad on the roof will be built on the territory of the Botkin Hospital. The total area of the building will be over 16 thousand sq. m, said Chief Architect of Moscow, First Deputy of Chairman of Moskomarkhitektura Sergey Kuznetsov. 

The new complex will be built on the central alley of the city clinical hospital named after Botkin, near the exit to Ulitsa Polikarpova. The building will have seven above-ground floors, with the fourth, sixth and seventh floors shifted inward relative to the main facade. This is not an accidental decision - in this way, the building turned out to be as rational as possible in terms of areas, and visually became lighter and more elegant.  

“The building will have a lot of sunshine due to stained-glass glazing; additionally, the facades will be decorated with white pylons, faced with ceramic slabs imitating natural stone, and several rows of metal decorative profiles at the fourth-floor level. There is a helipad on the roof, from here patients will quickly get into the building via a special ramp and take an elevator down to the first floor,” said Sergey Kuznetsov.  

The stairwells are decorated with protruding volumes, which also looks advantageous from an architectural point of view. The sign with the name of the hospital will be made of metal, and at night it will be illuminated by external lamps. 

The entrance lobby is made with a minimum drop, so that it is more convenient for patients to be brought into the heated vestibule of the hospital. On the first floor, in addition to the patient reception area, there will be a reception, a cloakroom, a waiting area for relatives, as well as departments for victims in a serious and moderate condition, containment rooms, a CT room, etc. If there are signs of improvement in the state of health, patients will be transferred to the wards on the second floor. On all upper floors there are examination rooms of various profiles, diagnostic departments, surgeries, laboratories, household, technical and administrative premises.
