The architectural concept of Yandex’s new headquarters in the Gagarinsky District received a certificate of issuance of an architectural and urban planning decision from the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Construction, said Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

«The project of Yandex headquarters will become another example of the implementation of complex, technological, modern architecture in Moscow. The facades will be faced with titanium panels of a light shade, part of the walls and the atrium will be covered with stained glass. The roof will have a complex contour with exploited terraces along the facade and on the roof. The unusual silhouette and finishing materials are used to emphasize the company’s striving for improvement and development », noted Sergey Kuznetsov.

The building will be built on Kosygina Street, on the site of the former Korston hotel. Several iconic structures are located nearby, in particular, the Palace of Pioneers, which makes the work on the territory especially responsible. Visually, the complex will represent three «wings» united by a central atrium with a transparent roof and public space. The height of the wings will be different: the closer to residential buildings, the lower.

The new building will be comparable in height to Korston. There is a multi-level underground parking. The headquarters is designed to be staff-friendly. At the same time, the first floors of the building will house a lot of services useful for the townspeople. The complex includes two large conference rooms, an educational complex and the Yandex Museum. In addition, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies and service enterprises will be opened. Yandex also plans to finance the improvement of a large area near the headquarters: a new park with an area of about 2 hectares will appear between Akademika Zelinskogo and Akademika Zeldovicha streets.

The authors of the project are London bureau PLP Architecture, chief architect is Lee Polisano. Russian bureaus APEX and RTDA also participate in the design. Lighting concept is being developed by Ultimatum Group. The socio-cultural component is handled by the bureau Citymakers, which helps to integrate the headquarters into the existing context of the district, and also shapes the principles of public space on the ground floors. Several more specialized companies will help plan and equip the territory: for example, Arteza will be engaged in landscape design. The company participated in the creation of the Zaryadye park and in the improvement of the Luzhniki sports complex. MIC and DS Group are also involved in the project. The developer is MR Group.

The solutions suggested by Citymakers include:

Braincatcher — a set of measures to attract the best specialists to the company, increasing loyalty to the company’s HR brand. Thanks to the open campus, potential specialists will be able to get acquainted with the company, visit a museum, educational complexes, a park and a cafe.

Crossroads — a principle that allows the best ideas and startups to be brought together within the public spaces of the campus, as well as the tools for their implementation. The accessibility of the first floors almost dissolves the complex in its surroundings, thus the headquarters will become not only a place of work for the company’s employees, but also a new point of attraction for city residents.
