Museum in China Designed by IND Architects Shortlisted for World Architecture Festival

12 July 2021

Xingfu Village Pan-Museum in China by IND architects was shortlisted for the World architecture festival, one of the largest and most prestigious international architectural awards.

The new cultural site will appear next to an existing village located in a scenic valley in Sichuan province. Previously, IND architects became the winner of an international competition for the creation of a museum concept. The competition participants were faced with a difficult task - to fit the museum building into the natural landscape and improve the pedestrian accessibility of this place with minimal interference with the existing harmony.

The museum will be located on five terraced levels with a man-made waterfall. Its water will be taken from the local river and reflect the sky with its depth and freedom. Each terrace has a specific function: story, involvement, diversity, creation, meditation. Each of them offers a unique breathtaking view of the valley, which seems to be immersed in greenery. Nature will become a full-fledged participant in the expositions at each of the levels. Wind, sunlight, water will be able to penetrate the building thanks to special holes, blurring the boundaries between the surrounding landscape and the interior of the museum. The total area of the new cultural facility will exceed 3 thousand square meters. The design uses local natural materials - red sandstone, bamboo, stones, clay, wood. The villagers themselves will be involved in the creation of the museum.
