Former industrial buildings of N.A.Semashko pharmaceutical plant are being transformed into a modern art cluster. The WALL bureau is responsible for the architectural component, while Citymakers company is in charge of the socio-cultural programming. The project does not involve new construction, just reconstruction and improvement.

The cluster will be located between Sergiy Radonezhskiy Street and Gzhelskiy Lane. Offices, cafes, a gastronomic center, creative workshops, multifunctional and public spaces will open here. Now, work with facades and landscaping is underway on the territory.

The buildings will first be cleaned to the historical layer, then specialists will dismantle outdated utilities and masonry in the openings. Façade «concrete-like» plaster, golden paint, transparent polycarbonate, galvanized steel and so on have been chosen as new finishing materials. On the street, they will make spectacular paving using several types of paving slabs, granite stone, marble chips, paving stones. Landscape gardening and installation of various art objects are also planned. For a long time Gzhelskiy Lane was isolated by gates on both sides, but now it is again accessible for walking.

Earlier, the Moscow Mayor’s Office also approved a project for the improvement of Sergiy Radonezhsky Street, along which a tram will run between Shosse Entuziastov and Kurskiy railway station, as well as between the Kurskaya and MCD-2 metro stations. You can quickly get to the Spaso-Andronikov Monastery and the embankment of the Yauza River. It should be noted that the redevelopment of the territory near Sergiy Radonezhsky Street is not the final point. This is only the first of four sites within the framework of a large project that received a beautiful ancient Greek name — PANGAEA.

In the historical context, Pangaea is a supercontinent that existed in the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic and united almost the entire land area of the Earth 335-175 million years ago. Here the scale is limited to several districts of Moscow, but it is also impressive — three more sites are located near the Sokolniki, Baumanskaya and Taganskaya metro stations. They will develop in stages.
