Klenovy Bulvar Station to be Decorated with Raindrops

Lighting elements in the lobby of Klenovy Bulvar metro station will refer to the culture of mesh ceramics, which was developed on the territory of Dyakovo Gorodishche in Kolomenskoye. This was told by Chief Architect of Moscow, First Deputy Chairman of Moskomarkhitektura Sergey Kuznetsov.

Construction of the Klenovy Bulvar station is being carried out along Kolomenskaya Street, adjacent to Klenovy Bulvar. Archslon workshop proposed a concept in which the metro becomes an organic continuation of the cultural context of the area.

«This is a station which was offered for the competition, and this concept won in large part due to its strong link to the history and context of the place. The authors included traditional ornaments, references to folk crafts in the design. For example, unusual light sources are designed for the area under the street passage and underground lobby. The motives of mesh ceramics became the prototype for them. The perforated metal panels with diffuser are categorized into nine types and combined to create the feeling of multiple spotlights,» said Sergey Kuznetsov.

According to him, elements of the preserved historical buildings are also interpreted in a modern way. The shape of the ground lobbies is the author’s interpretation of the silhouette of the ceiling of the palace of Alexey Mikhailovich in Kolomenskoye.

«The facades of the lobbies will be faced with perforated panels, where spotlights will be built in, and LEDs will also be placed along the perimeter of the roof. In addition, the architects have an idea to illuminate the pavilions with spotlights built into the road surface right at the metro exits. Compositionally, they will look like sparkling raindrops,» said Sergey Kuznetsov.

Each zone of the station has its own type of lighting. The soft forms of the entrance group are then transferred to the walls and ceiling, which will be faced with illuminated aluminum panels. Classic lamps will be installed near the escalators, and a large luminous circle will be suspended at the top, which will look spectacular against the background of black walls. A «dome» reappears on the ceiling of the platform part, which will be created from white aluminum panels. The main lighting here is organized by reflected light directed into the dome space. It was decided to make the underground level in a laconic monochrome range.

The station will be decorated with white and black granite, structured with various paving ornaments, marble and metal panels on the columns and arches.
