Fiztekh metro station will be decorated with cone-shaped columns

Moscow Committee for Architecture agreed on the architectural appearance of the Fiztekh metro station. Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is located in the vicinity, and according to the authors of the project, the station complex will look like a "temple of science."

A low-depth metro station is being built to the north of the intersection of Dmitrovskoye Highway with Akademika Landau Boulevard. This is the end of the Lyublinsko-Dmitrievskaya line, so the project also provides for turnaround dead ends.

The design of the station was developed by Metrogiprotrans JSC. The platform will be 76.6 meters long. The station s columns will be made in the shape of cones expanding upwards.

“As Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said earlier, the authors of the project took scientific topics as a basis. In physics, a concept of a cone is often used, so here they decided to use columns of the same shape. Due to lighting, the space of the station becomes dynamic and alive. The light from the columns is reflected from the vault and fills the entire space of the station. Attention is also attracted by wide benches of a rounded shape: lamps are built into the ends, and the benches themselves serve as the basis for placing information structures. The name of the station on the track walls will be made of stainless steel,” Sergey Kuznetsov said.

Cone-shaped columns will also decorate the station s ground vestibule, which will include a ticket office and an escalator descent. Stained-glass windows with a black aluminum profile will be installed between them. Finishing will be made with white aluminum panels. To illuminate the facades, lamps will be used. They will be located on the protruding fragments and fixed on the columns, which will better reveal their rounded shape and give the building more expressiveness.

Inside, the walls of the pavilion will be lined with white aluminum panels, the floor is going to be covered with natural light-colored granite. The ceiling will be made of white slats with overhead lamps in the form of truncated cones.

In addition to the ground lobby of the metro, it is planned to erect a separate building for operating personnel, combined with an emergency exit. It will have 4 underground and 3 ground levels. The facades will be made of dark gray and white aluminum panels, two cone-shaped white columns will be located at two corners of the rectangular building.
