Facade solution for Sydney City residential complex created in parametric program

A residential complex with underground parking for 427 cars is going to be built on Shenogina Street, Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki district. The architects entrusted the development of a unique range of facades to smart algorithms.

The project provides for the construction of a residential complex (Shenogina street, land plot 2/17) consisting of three residential buildings of different heights. A stylobate part will unite them with commercial premises and an entertainment center.

«The total area of the residential complex on Shenogina Street will be 74,500 square meters. The authors of the project managed to create dynamic facades with a unique pattern. Clinker bricks, stemalite and aluminum panels painted to look like aged copper will be used for finishing. Each building will get its own color,» said Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief Architect of Moscow.

Inside, the buildings are equipped with advanced heating, air conditioning and air filtration systems to fine-tune the individual microclimate. The variable number of floors of the houses provides the maximum number of panoramic views of Moscow City, the Moskva River and Filevsky Park. In accordance with the needs of different categories of residents, 59 options for functional layouts were developed.

«The façade solution for Sydney City residential complex was created using the Grasshopper parametric program. The code, with the insolation and technical characteristics of buildings of different heights embedded in it, made it possible not only to create memorable facades, but also provided a configuration with maximum penetration of natural light into the premises,» said Genpro (the authors of the project).

The idea of landscaping, developed by Wowhaus, is based on allusions to the hilly terrain of Sydney. The palette of plants is selected in such a way as to ensure their availability all year round. The concept involves the separation of transit and pleasure traffic, the allocation of zones for the arrangement of street sectors of restaurants and cafes, the creation of a large children’s area, so several functional routes have been thought out — entertainment, gastronomic, sports and children’s ones.
