Design of Ulitsa Novatorov Station of the Kommunarskaya Line was Approved

Ulitsa Novatorov station of the Kommunarskaya metro line will be decorated with caissons on the ceiling. The track walls will be decorated in a matrix technique using aluminum honeycomb panels, said Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief Architect of Moscow, First Deputy of Chairman of Moskomarkhitektura. 

“The ceiling of the station will be made of aluminum panels of various formats with a polished surface. Caissons will create a more intimate and cozier atmosphere at the station, in addition, they will also have a practical role - they will hide lamps in the recesses. The track walls in the upper part will support the ceiling pattern, some elements will be located in the depth and painted orange. And the lower part will be completely revetted with perforated elements 1.2 meters high in the same shade. I would like to emphasize that the new stations will be fully adapted for the movement of people with limited mobility, and as Mayor Sergey Sobyanin noted earlier, the active development of the metro as a whole gives such people the opportunity to comfortably travel by metro,” said Sergey Kuznetsov. 

The station will be finished with multi-format aluminum honeycomb panels, anodized to look like stainless steel, and orange. Two rows of columns and the floor will be faced with light gray granite, the basement will be made of black gabbro-diabase.  

The decoration of the ticket lobby is subordinated to the main architectural idea of the station. In the lobby, triangular honeycomb aluminum panels will be placed on the ceiling, and the ticket office will be faced with orange artificial stone. All routes of passenger movement will be performed taking into account the needs of people with limited mobility. The entrance pavilions - lightweight glass and metal structures - will be heated. Their aesthetics are expressed in straight lines and clean geometric shapes.

The designer was Mospromproekt, AO. Project owner was Mosinzhproekt. Please be reminded that earlier Moskomarkhitektura approved the architectural appearance of the Ulitsa Novatorov station of Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line. It will be decorated with a “flaming” ceiling made of triplex orange in three shades. The lighting equipment will be hidden between the panels, which will create an interesting play of light.
