The embankments of the Moskva River at the site of the former AMO ZIL await a large-scale reconstruction: they will be landscaped and turned into comfortable recreation areas for the citizens, as announced by Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

The landscaping concept for an area of 33.6 hectares was developed by the Genplan Institute of Moscow by the order of Moskomarkhitektura, and in partnership with Asadov Bureau. The future park begins at Danilovsky Bridge and ends at Andropova Prospect.

“The concept maximizes the species, ecological and recreational potential of the water area, makes the embankments an accessible, recognizable and sought-after holiday destination of a city-wide scale. In essence, this is a project of a new city park near the water,” noted Sergey Kuznetsov.

The project is based on three main principles: practicability, openness and a variety of functions. These principles are embodied in the main planning idea of the territory: "four lines - one park".

According to Sergey Kuznetsov, four thematic routes are organized in the park: Magnets, Sports, Rest and Promenade. The project also has an elaborate system of paths - special routes for jogging and long walks; three zones with pavilions for organizing events and concerts.

«We entered the territory of the embankment not only in urban planning and nature, but also in a semantic context. The toponymy of the quarters on the site of the former factory and the name of the embankment itself refer to the Russian avant-garde and its figures, therefore, when developing the project, the architects were inspired by the images and motifs from the work of Marc Chagall, an outstanding avant-garde artist, ” added Anna Badanova, head of the workshop for designing urban environment facilities of the Genplan Institute of Moscow.
