Along Simonovskaya Embankment and Marc Chagall Embankment, it is planned to create a continuous walking route with bicycle and jogging paths.

The creation of a single public space is envisaged by the territory planning project, which, on behalf of the Moskomarkhitektura, was developed by GAU "Research and Development Institute of Urban Planning of the City of Moscow".

“The river should not only become a connecting link for different areas of the city,"says Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.“It will also help unite the city and the people living in it. Therefore, the primary task of the program for the improvement of river banks and the reconstruction of embankments is to increase the permeability of territories, environmental friendliness, the creation of new exits to the river and the possibility of unhindered movement along the channel of the Moskva River."

Also, one of the priorities for the transformation of riverside territories, including in the southeast of the capital, is the arrangement of jogging tracks on the embankments and the organization of pedestrian traffic.

The continuous pedestrian space, which is planned to be created in the coastal zone of the Danilovsky district of Moscow, will connect the embankments with residential areas and recreational areas in the system of existing and projected pedestrian and transport links.

"Comprehensive landscaping of the projected territory will allow to reveal the recreational potential of the embankments, improve the urban environment along the Moskva River," Dina Sattarova, director of GAU "Research and Development Institute of Urban Planning of the City of Moscow", clarifies. “Within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a comfortable walking area filled with new functions for Muscovites and guests of the capital.”

In particular, the expansion of the embankment will make it possible not only to create a continuous walking route in close proximity to the Moskva River from Krutitskaya Embankment to Danilovsky Bridge, but also to arrange about 4 km of running and bicycle paths along the river. It is planned that the territory will be fully landscaped: new sidewalks, lawns and flower beds will appear there, trees and shrubs will be planted.

Also, within the framework of the project, descents to the water should be organized. For example, it is planned to restore one of them, on the section of Simonovskaya embankment, during the reconstruction and building of a retaining wall with a length of 3.95 km necessary for strengthening the river bank.

For the organization of pedestrian traffic, ground pedestrian crossings are provided through the projected main street. In addition, the authors of the project propose to place stopping points for surface urban passenger transport along the entire length of Simonovskaya Embankment and Marc Chagall Embankment with the arrangement of bus bays.

The Marc Chagall Embankment is part of the green belt of ZIL Parks, which is directly connected with the territory of residential areas oriented towards the “Park on the Embankment”, a green comfortable recreation area along the Moskva River.
