Sergey Kuznetsov: Three Moscow Projects May Become Winners of MIPIM Awards

15 June 2021

Three flagship Moscow projects entered the final of MIPIM Awards International competition. Among them one can find the hospital in Voronovskoe, the project for the reconstruction of the North River Terminal and Badaevsky residential complex. According to Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov, Moscow objects have begun to be included in the final of the award every year, and have every chance to win.

«Three finalists from Moscow is the second best result in the entire history of the award. We did have a maximum of five, but today’s result is also very good. Badaevsky residential complex is a universally recognized world masterpiece, a project that has already collected many prizes, reached the final with great support. The hospital in Voronovskoe is our masterpiece of mobilization and high-speed construction in the field of medicine during the fight against COVID-19. And finally, the North River Terminal, which, despite the toughest competition in the category of objects of redevelopment, reconstruction and restoration, still broke through to the final. It has a good chance of winning since it combines the excellent restoration of a landmark architectural object with the development of the entire territory as a public space» — said Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief Architect of Moscow.

This year, the jury took into account not only traditional selection criteria, including innovative qualities, interesting architecture, environmental component, impact on the community, but also assessed situational characteristics. Experts took a close look at how projects faced the impact of the pandemic, which has seriously affected the way people live, work, shop and spend their free time today.
