Sergey Kuznetsov Gave a Speech in front of the AIA Delegates

Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov gave a speech in front of the participants of the COD International Conference 2017 | Russia of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

The members AIA (American Institute of Architects) arrived in Moscow with a three-day visit, during which they will see the historical monuments, the avant-garde architecture and the newest buildings and projects of the Russian capital. Sergey Kuznetsov told the participants of the conference about these must-see places. He recalled that the mayor Sergey Sobyanin’s team introduced significant changes into the town planning course of the Moscow agglomeration. The city began to dynamically develop the untapped territorial resources of the former industrial zones, paying special attention to the coastal zones of the Moscow River.

“Without a doubt, today we want to implement Moscow projects that can make the city interesting to the world. We had a number of important international competitions with the participation of the best foreign studios, and in the next few years, we will see their results,” said Sergey Kuznetsov. He emphasizes that the completion of the megaprojects the city has put a lot of effort and investment into: the reconstruction of the Luzhniki, the construction of the Zaryadye Park and the redevelopment of the ZIL territory – are Moscow’s design priorities.

Mr. Kuznetsov also pointed out that it was for a reason that Moscow introduced the project V.D.N.H. URBAN PHENOMENON at the last architectural Biennale in Venice, featuring the revitalization of the largest exhibition and architectural ensemble. He says that the restored VDNH is an example of a project that allows to accumulate and increase the intellectual and cultural energy of the society, which in turn helps to win the battle for the quality of life in a modern metropolis.

“The government of Moscow, on behalf of the mayor Sergey Sobyanin, puts the focus of the urban development strategy onto the saturation of the areas with a variety of social infrastructure; and the city, as we see it, does it on a large scale. For example, if you take Zaryadye or the Luzhniki area you can see a multi-billion investment. A city cannot do it in a different way, and we know that all successful megacities choose this method,” said Kuznetsov.
