Sergei Sobyanin visits a school under construction in the Zyuzino District

03 October 2013

The new building of School No. 1279 at 36A Bolotnikovskaya Street will be completed by 20 October 2013, said Sergei Dvuluchansky, a representative of the general contractor, to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, who visited the construction site. Mr Sobyanin noted that the building is situated in a residential area that had been constructed under an investment contract and previously had no school at all. “For some reason building a school was overlooked and as a result, we had to build a new school urgently,” said Mr Sobyanin. The classes at the new school will start in the beginning of November.

The school for up to 300 children was constructed in seven months, and the contractor designed the building and provided the construction works. “As a result, we managed to reduce the construction period by almost two times and the costs by 25%,” Mr Sobyanin said. The individual project provided for the construction of a three-storey building with a technical area below and a basement. Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction, added that by 2015, over 3,000 jobs would be created in that residential area.

During his visit, Mr Sobyanin recalled the similar situation in the Molzhaninovo District where a school had not been constructed in a new residential area. Mr Khusnullin said that a site for the construction had been chosen and the tender documentation was being prepared. The school will be built by 1 September 2014.

In 2013, 12 primary and secondary schools for 6,635 children are scheduled for construction in Moscow. Over the past nine months, eight secondary and primary schools for up to 4,825 children have opened in Moscow.
