Moscow Committee for Architecture presented an exposition at ARCH Moscow-2022 exhibition dedicated to the projects of new bridges and the formation of cross-links in the city. It took about 900 sheets of cardboard to create the stand. This is not only an environmentally friendly material, but a symbol of the fact that all architectural projects begin with sketches and models, said Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief Architect of Moscow.

The booth will host lectures on the pedestrian connectivity of cities and the practices of building modern bridges. There will also be a presentation of eight new bridges and a discussion on how they will help connect Moscow. On the last day of the exhibition, a master class for children on creating cities was organized.

“Every year we try to identify the most interesting, acute architectural and urban planning theme and exhibit it at the stand of Moscow Committee for Architecture. This time the key theme was the overcoming of space, and bridges were chosen as an iconic element of the urban environment. This year, eight new crossings were presented at once, including the bridge in the Moscow-City Business Center, which I am the author of. Interesting events are planned at the booth, and the installation itself is very spectacular. Arched structures symbolize the unification of the coasts, they intertwine like parts of a living organism to show that the city is a growing, developing structure, and that the construction of bridges gives the city new directions for development,” said Sergey Kuznetsov

The city systematically creates transverse links - transport arteries, walking routes and, of course, pays special attention to the development of the embankments of the Moskva River and the Yauza. This task is closely intertwined with the topic of ecology, therefore, such an environmentally friendly, easy-to-use and affordable material as cardboard was chosen to create the stand. After the end of the exhibition, it can be easily sent for processing.

The arches are made of cardboard of different textures, which creates additional depth and tactility. The structures are partly supported by a podium, partly suspended from a frame on the ceiling. And the system of reflectors creates a glare effect on the floor, as if the visitor is “floating” under the bridge. Information materials are presented in a video presentation, and you can also study a map of Moscow with marked bridges at the stand. Under the arches there is a large table for lectures and discussions.
