Moscow urban development centre to be housed at VDNKh

According to Sergei Lyovkin, Head of the Moscow Department of Urban Development, the city will establish an urban development centre at the National Exhibition of Economic Achievements. The Moscow Urban Development Centre is expected to become a new venue for large exhibitions, expositions and conferences.

Sergei Lyovkin also clarified that one of the city’s most top-priority goals is to preserve historical and cultural heritage. Accordingly, restoration work has been in progress on 105 historic buildings over the past two years. In the future, the rate of restoration will be from 40 to 50 sites per year.

Much of Moscow’s territory will be landscaped after the opening of the Moscow Belt Railway, scheduled for 2015. About 65 percent of Moscow’s targeted investment programme for 2014-2017 is allocated for developing transport infrastructure.
