Standards for Landscaping of Residential Areas Will Apply to all Renovation Sites

23 August 2017

Participants in the competition for five experimental renovation sites will adhere to the standards of landscaping, developed with the participation of the Moscow Government, August 8, 2017, said the Chief Architect of Moscow, Sergey Kuznetsov.

«Today, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin approves standards for the improvement of residential areas and the requirements for improved finishing of residential premises provided to residents for resettlement within the renovation program. The document sets a certain level of quality of the environment, which should be taken into account by the competitors for five pilot renovation sites. It is not only about landscaping, but also children’s and sports grounds, engineering equipment, materials used, and small architectural forms. Many residents were worried that for a number of reasons the new neighborhood would be than before resettlement. Now people have an official guarantee that this will not happen,» says Sergey Kuznetsov.

He promises that the participants of the competition will have to adhere to a number of principles when planning the structure of the new microdistricts. First of all, it is a better permeability of the area through the creation of public spaces and the effective use of land resources. Secondly, the creation of underground parking lots will free the yards from cars. Thirdly, communal facilities will be taken out of the yard as much as possible. Finally, the architects will have to create a comfortable microclimate in the local area, including a green landscape and planting of perennials and large trees.

«The requirements stipulate the possibility of creation of summer cafes, fairs, public areas, including sites for cultural events, for the walking of dogs, the formation of a lighting system, security: installation of CCTV cameras at the entrance, intercoms, smoke removal and fire alarms and many other. It is important that the approved requirements also cover the sites of the preserved residential development in the renovation area,» said Sergey Kuznetsov.

For reference: on August 1, 20 finalists of the architectural and town planning competition were seclected to develop the concept of five experimental renovation sites in Kuzminki, Golovinsky, Tsaritsyno, Prospekt Vernadskogo and Khoroshevo-Mnevniki. All teams obtained specifications and started work. On October 13, 2017, the participants will need to submit the albums with concepts.
