Rubtsovskaya metro station to be built in the Hi-Tech style

Moskomarkhitektura approved the design project for Rubtsovskaya metro station of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line. The new station is being built along Semenovskaya Embankment in Basmanny District.

From Rubtsovskaya station, passengers can transfer to Elektrozavodskaya station of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya metro line, as well as to access the same-named platform of Kazan direction of the Moscow railway.

“The hall and the platform design of Rubtsovskaya station will be decorated in the hi-tech style. The walls will be made of glass with granite floors. For the illumination of the station, LEDs will be used, they will be installed in the decorative ring-shaped oriels. A series of lit illuminators will create a unique style and give additional volume to the station”, - said Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

The entrance to the hall of Rubtsovskaya station will be entirely see-through and its façade will be covered in perforated plates creating an illusion of 3D volume.

Another architectural feature of this new station will be its geometrically shaped designer ventilation kiosks, which will be installed next to the entrance.

“The engineering facilities will be the last thing you’d of. They will look like sculptures, contemporary art pieces, which harmoniously blend in the urban environment. As it was previously reported by Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Rubtsovskaya station opening is scheduled for 2019”, – added Kuznetsov.

Rubtsovskaya station will improve the transport accessibility of Basmanny District, it will ease the load on the central metro hubs and northern sections of Kalininskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Sokolnicheskaya metro lines. The station capacity during the peak hours will be 33,700 passengers.
