08 June 2018

As a part of preparation for the FIFA World Cup over 700 maps, signs and flags for ease of navigation were installed in Luzhniki, said the Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

“In addition to the construction works on new sites and restoration of the existing ones, the area of Luzhniki Olympic Sports Complex underwent a large-scale development. In particular, over 700 maps, signs and flags for ease of navigation throughout the complex were installed. They will help Muscovites and guests of the capital to navigate, especially during the games”, – says Kuznetsov.

Sergey Kuznetsov also said that the territory of the complex will be operating successfully when the 2018 World Cup is over. “The project has various options of further use. Advanced playgrounds and athletic fields were built here, the swimming pool is under reconstruction, the embankment has been improved, for example, the boat ramps were built, hardscape elements have been installed, new soft-surface race tracks and bicycle lanes have also been created. As Mayor Sergey Sobyanin mentioned earlier, 4-5 million visitors will be attending the sports cluster each year”, – said Chief Architect.

As we reported earlier, landscaping works in 10 key zones of the complex have been completed, around 60 thousand plants have been planted and 540 bicycle parking spaces have been built at the Luzhniki Sports Complex.
