Moskomarkhitektura approved 10 metro stations projects in 2018

14 January 2019

10 projects of new metro stations have been approved by Moskomarkhitektura in 2018. Eight of them are stations of Big Circle Line, marked chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

“We have certainly made a big step in improving quality of the projects of new stations in recent years. They are interesting, individual and reflect our time. It’s rather natural that there are lots of them, as we have very fast pace of metro construction. As Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin mentioned, once all works are completed, Big Circle Line will be the largest circle line in the world,” said Sergey Kuznetsov.

The following metro stations of Big Circle Line have been approved this year: Rubtsovkaya, Prospekt Vernadskogo, Aminyevskoye Shosse, Aviamotornaya, Sheremetyevskaya, Nizhniye Mnevniki, Ulitsa Narodnogo Opolcheniya, and Voronstovskaya.

Besides, the project of new hall for the Okhruzhnaya station of Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line has been approved, as well as the project of Kosino station of Nekrasovskaya line. All of them have been performed under individual projects.

Thus, unification of different parts of the station with the red carriers was taken as a basis for the concept of Nizhniye Mnevniki station. Architects organized red ‘object’ in the centre of the platform, which elements are repeated in various parts of the station. And hence the beams over the rolling stairs, columns and fragments of ceiling in the hall.

The hall in Sheremetyevskaya station will be supported by globe-shaped carriers, six meters in diameter each. Architects propose to use natural stone for finishing: light for carriers and ceilings and dark for floors – it will add some volume and contrast to the project in whole.
