Moscow Urban Forum-2018 will take place in Zaryadye
The Moscow Urban Forum 2018 was presented at MIPIM. This year’s theme will be The Metropolis of the Future: New Space for Living. The participants of the presentation, including the chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov, shared their views on what the city of the future should be like.
According to Nadezhda Karavanova, Deputy Head of the Department of Urban Development Policy of Moscow, Moscow Urban Forum this year will begin on June 17, just one day after the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup, which will be held on June 15 at the Luzhniki stadium.
The guests of the Championship will be able to visit the events of the forum. The business program of the MUF traditionally takes two days, but throughout the week it will be accompanied by an extensive festival program at many venues of the city. This year, the forum’s venue will be the park Zaryadye, namely, its new concert hall to be opened in May this year.
In the framework of increasing competition between metropolitan cities around the world, human assets become the main value. Therefore, the focus on the Moscow urban forum will be placed on people, their comfort, health, conditions for personal development and self-actualization in the city of the future. «If we build well today, we will have a guarantee of the city’s success in the long run,» said Sergey Kuznetsov in his speech.
«We do not know how the urban environment will change, and all attempts to make a prediction are likely to fail. Well, who could have guessed a few years ago that the park Zaryadye would appear next to the Kremlin? As a result, a beautiful pattern of the future has been created».
It is necessary to make the city comfortable, diverse, and interesting here and now, said Sergey Kuznetsov, and all the projects that have been discussed at MIPIM: renovation, development of transportation, industrial areas — are meant for it. «I think it is necessary to work thoughtfully and creatively, and then, whatever the future looks like, it will look good,» concluded the chief architect of Moscow.
CEO and co-owner of MR Group, Roman Timokhin emphasized the need for decentralization of the city. «In Moscow, the downtown area is so beautiful you do not want to leave it, and I see a lot of people around. This is the model for other areas of the city to be developed by,» said Roman Timokhin.
