Lime Line of Metro to Have “Seligerskaya” Vaulted Station

20 August 2016

The architectural design of the station “Seligarskaya” has been approved, says the Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov. The station will remind underground dome with arched galleries and vaulted ceiling.

“Seligerskaya” is being constructed in Beskudnikovsky District, at the crossing of Dmitrovskoe and Korovinskoe highways. Architectural look of the capital, designed by “Mospromproject” JSC, follows the idea of vaulted ceilings appearing at other stations of the lime line of metro, such as “Maryina Roshcha”, “Fonvizinskaya”, “Petrovsko-Razumovskaya”, “Okruzhnaya” and “Verkhniye Likhobory”, says Kuznetsov.

After him, the station design was being corrected by designers in the course of considerations with Architectural Council of Moscow.

“Station „Seligerskaya„ is a part of the new northern section of Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line, which, after Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, will improve the transport accessibility for almost half a million inhabitants of Moscow, — says Sergey Kuznetsov. — The platform will be divided by arched galleries into three arched naves. Central nave will be higher than the side ones, there, above arches tiled with facing brick, will be subsidiary tier of blank windows, thus arising sensation of lofty bright space“.

Tunnel walls will have stained-glass windows patterned with fallen water, which is associated with the place-name „Seligerskaya“. It bears reminding that station was named after heroic battle of units of Kalininsky front against Nazi troops in the battle for Moscow on the Lake Seliger.

Platform and cashier area are united by elevators and escalators into an integrated overflowing area. The theme of vaulted ceilings, rested on arches tiled with bricks, being continued in the cashier halls.

An unusual decision was also found for subway kiosks, which cover stairs approach to subway: they are performed with inclined glazing, rested on openwork metal arches, reminding of first stations of Paris metropolitan in the Art Nouveau style.

Construction of runround tunnel after station „Seligerskaya“, as Deputy Mayor of Moscow says, has already been completed. Section of Lyublino-Dmitrovskaya line from station „Maryina Roshcha“ towards station „Petrovsko-Razumovskaya“ is to be planned to complete this year. „Development of reversal tunnels will allow organizing trains traffic on the line, and also will hold capacity for the future. In the ensuing years works on prolongation of this line will proceed, when there is such need“, — added M. Khusnullin.
