It is planned to launch construction of Palace of Martial Arts in the Luzhniki this year
The palace of martial arts on the territory of the Luzhniki will be erected in the Functional style, with reference to common stylistics of the sports complex facilities, told Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.
The project of the building has been selected during the closed architectural contest. The winner was Moscow architectural bureau UNK Project.
“The walls and ceilings of the new Palace of martial arts in the Luzhniki will be almost transparent. The glassed pavilion with stainless steel columns will follow the shape of rectangular. One of its part will be occupied by International SAMBO Centre, another one – by Box Centre. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported earlier in his twitter that the treadmills for cardio exercises will be orginized on the roof,” – explained Sergey Kuznetsov.
The sports facility with the total area about 40,000 sq.m. is planned to be built by the end of 2021 on Luzhniki street, near football fields in the northern part of the complex. The works can already start this year.
It will be a three-storey building. The basement will have underground parking for 220 car places. The first floor will host not only hall and gyms, but also two all-season swimming pools with spa zone. The second floor will be set for training halls for fighters with sports equipment and inventory. The third floor will have zones for competitions with seat terraces, changing rooms for sportsmen, rooms for training and medical staff. Restaurant and café will be open for the visitors of the complex. The treadmills for exercises will be fixed up on the exploited roof.
According to Chief Architect of Moscow, the central façade of the palace a media screen will be installed. It will provide information about coming events in box and SAMBO, and also show portraits of famous boxers and sambists, as well as useful information for fans and guests of the sports complex. Besides, the peculiarity of the complex is the sloping mirror ceiling with optical effect allowing to see from the street what’s happening inside.
