“Moscow City” Complex to Be Completed with a Building of Obscure Glass and Brass

15 August 2016

A new building with fronts of obscure glass and decoration of brass is to be built between the “City of Capitals” and “Evolution” towers. The project has been approved today during the meeting of the Architectural Council of Moscow.

This refers to a multi-purpose complex, which is to be built as part of “Imperia Tower” at Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, site № 4 of Moscow International Business Center “Moscow-City”. “The site has a long history. The project has been changed several times, but today we’re sure that this design will be successful. Members of the Architectural Council have supported its implementation”, — commented the Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

The second stage of the “Imperia Tower” complex provides for two buildings with different functions on a common existing stylobate: building A, oriented towards the embankment, will have a hotel of 283 rooms and 242 apartments, and building B will have offices. The building is designed in a trapeze form with an inner open yard. The total height of the complex is 18 floors.

Hotel part of building A is oriented towards the inner yard; there is an entrance to the hotel lobby on the side of the yard and the embankment. Apartments are equipped with open recessed balconies and are located being oriented along the building outside perimeter, there is an entrance from the inner yard provided for. One can get into the building B from the side of existing “Imperia Tower” complex. Premises for commercial activities are provided for on the building ground floors.

The concept developed by “Architectural Bureau „Tsimailo, Lyashenko and Partners„“, LLC, also provides for open public space on the bridge, located above the embankment roadway, with a way to Moskva River. The complex will be connected with the river by means of pedestrian walkways and galleries from the territory of Moscow International Business Center „Moscow-City“.

Structural glazing and composite panels are proposed to be used for the fronts. The architects have also proposed to use brass lamellas as decorative fixtures and enclosure structures.

Let us remember that „Moscow-City“ is one of the most large-scale urban planning projects, which have been implemented within Russia over the past few decades. The business center is being constructed on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, where a stone quarry used to be located. An area for business activities is being created here to combine business, apartments and leisure.
