Archcouncil Approved Hotel Project on Leningrad Highway

05 October 2016

Today the Archcouncil of Moscow approved the hotel project on the Leningrad Highway: the building will have a complex stained glass glazing resembling scales.

The hotel will be located at: Leningrad Highway, 61. This is an area of 18.757 square meters with plenty of green spaces; that’s why it was agreed that the hotel’s facade should integrate perfectly into the green area, so a complex facade structure was designed. The inward arrangement of the building will have a stained glass structural glazing; the exterior of the building will resemble scales — in order to achieve this effect, the architects decided to use diamond-shaped aluminum perforated cassettes for cladding. Also, it’s planned to illuminate the surrounding area and the building facade at night.

According to Sergey Kuznetsov, Moscow’s Chief Architect, this park area may perform social and entertainment functions. “Archcouncil members emphasized the importance of the site. In fact, the Leningrad Highway is a gateway to the capital. The new hotel will be located between the highway and the Khimki Reservoir, therefore a hotel with great views can be built in this place. The project has been positively evaluated in general, but architects need to refine the concept of the site improvement. It makes sense to create a city park there, make pedestrian walkways and terraces, integrate the space into an active urban environment, to revive and give life to it,” said Kuznetsov.

Designers — LLC Asadov Architectural bureau — offered to make two building blocks sharing a common podium. The first building, managed by Novotel, will have 195 rooms located on floors 4 — 11; and there will be 50 suites in Adajio block (from 4 to 13 floors).

On the ground floor there will be a lobby, bar and retail area for hotel guests, security rooms, fitness and SPA facilities, and a restaurant with 150 seats. On the first floor there will be a conference center of 1,114 square meters, with several halls, as well as the administration block. Underground parking has space for 67 cars.

The total built-up area — 2,586 sq.m. Customer of the Project — LLC “Albatross”.

At the moment there is a two-storey hotel at the site. “It will be saved; and the new complex will be built in a short distance from this building and the highway,” explained the Chief Architect.
