Zaryadye and its concert hall made it to MIPIM Awards short list

08 February 2019

Zaryadye park with its concert hall made it to the short-list of MIPIM Awards, a major international real estate and investment projects competition, said the chief architect of Moscow, Sergey Kuznetsov.

Zaryadye Park already found international fame, and was acknowledged by the MIPIM Awards jury last year, but Russian projects have never received this prestigious award. This time, the chances of winning grew thanks to the newly opened concert hall. It is an expressive architectural structure and at the same time a perfect sound instrument that can at once and forever leave a mark in the audience’s imagination. I really believe in success. The winners will be announced on March 14,” says Sergey Kuznetsov.

MIPIM Awards have 11 categories. Zaryadye Park was shortlisted in the nomination “The Best Urban Restoration Project” along with the Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone in China, the National Kaohsiung Centre for the Arts in Taiwan, and the reconstruction of the historical center of Frankfurt am Main (Germany).

This year, 200 contenders from 58 countries applied for the award, and the jury selected 45 projects from 21 countries for the final round. Six projects are France, five – from China and Germany, four – from the UK, and three – from Spain and the Netherlands.

Here is how it all started. Zaryadye Park opened on the site of the former hotel Rossiya in September 2017. The authors of the park concept were Sergey Kuznetsov and the international consortium led by the US bureau Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The project of the concert hall was developed by the architectural bureau TPO Rezerv under the leadership of Vladimir Plotkin.

Last year, Zaryadye Park, along with Luzhniki Large Sports Arena, was already on MIPIM Awards short list. Zaryadye was nominated as “The best urban regeneration project”, while Luzhniki got to the final round in the nomination “The Best Restored Object”.
