An Improved Embankment and a New Heliport in “Levoberezhny”

16 October 2016

On the bank of Khimkinskoye Vodokhranilishche (reservoir) in “Levoberezhny” district transfer hub “Leningradskoye Motorway” will be built that will include road, water and air modes of transport, told chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

The area of construction is bound to the north by MKAD and to the west by Leningradskoye Motorway. Currently, this is a place with natural parking, stack of rubbish and illegal immigrants. Nearby town berth is in critical condition and requires renovation

“Traffic hub construction provides development of public transport, which includes alternative modes of it — air and water transport. The territory will get: a port for air transport with the area of 15.6 thousand sq.m., helicopters hangar — 6 thousand sq.m., helicopter landing and parking sites — 15.4 thousand sq.m. In the words of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, traffic hubs promote development of the neighboring territories, where investors will invest their money, first of all, in creation of new jobs, housing and social amenities” — told Sergey Kuznetsov.

Due to construction of heliport, which will serve as a base for rescue service, EMERCOM, and ambulance helicopters, will slash incident response times. It will host helicopter rescue team “Angel”, which is a voluntary noncommercial organization engaged in searching missing persons. Also, on the designed territory it is provided allocation of museum of aviation and children’s aviation school, where rising generation can study helicopters constructions, fundamentals of aerodynamics, and basics of aircraft handling.

In the framework of the concept, reconstruction of berth for river transport is planned, as well as building of yacht club with the area of 700 sq.m. and mooring site for 32 vessels. Sailing school will be located nearby. There, children will study equipment of yachts, motor boats, learn how to operate them in any settings. The embankment will be fixed up and become available for public use. The territory of the natural complex will be improved and cleared out. Beyond that, a church with the area of 1 thousand sq.m. will be built on the territory of the transfer hub. The authors of the project — Scientific-research and design institute of urban transport “MosgortransNIIproject” — have made every effort to reflect the wishes of the inhabitants of the district.

As for road transport, according to project, here will be created a bus express-route No. 905, which will make it possible to get downtown, to be more precise to Tverskaya Zastava, in 30-40 minutes. Buses will arrive to the terminal station with the area of 400 sq.m. which will allow to add new routs in the future. Commuter parking lot for 189 cars will be located nearby.

Another underground parking for 500 cars will be located under the business center (total area 62.5 thousand sq.m.) which will include two functional complexes with a total area of 6.8 thousand sq.m. Construction of business center and functional complexes will provide new jobs for locals.

“As it was mentioned before by Marat Khusnullin, transfer hubs are necessary to shorten time en-route, so that people could live, work and have a rest within walking distance. This is a global trend and nowadays Moscow is actively exploring it. Project of transfer hub „Leningradskoye Motorway„ has already been considered by Moscow Urban Planning and Land Commission and at the moment it is under the procedure of approval by local residents,“ — added Sergey Kuznetsov.
