Culture and architecture are the best tools or media of communication between countries and communities, they become even more important at the time of complicated international relations. And while officials are continuing their tense discussions, we can see a significant progress in the sphere of cultural links. Russia introduced its pavilion at Expo-2015 in Milan and then presented an exposition on VDNH renovation at the Venice Architecture Biennale this year. Joint projects are developing in Moscow as well: the project of the “Zaryadye” park to be constructed next to the Kremlin received a positive evaluation from UNESCO experts. Each year Moscow welcomes many international experts in architecture, urban development and urban planning at the Moscow Urban Forum where they share their experience and tell about new trends. Foreign architects are actively involved in competitions for the construction of residential quarters, cultural facilities, renovations of industrial areas and other major projects. Besides, tight links have been established and are maintained with foreign museums, galleries and cultural institutions, resulting  in joint exhibitions and projects in the art field.

10 a.m. -11.30 a.m. Session “Architecture of culture facilities ”

Harmonious development of the city suggests diverse functions being available. Functions that satisfy not only everyday consumer needs  but also cultural, educational and research demands of its residents. Successful cities which manage to combine diverse cultural, educational, and social activities along with convenient infrastructure and comfortable environment create an integrated type of the city that serves the citizen and is attractive for tourists. However, a more important issue nowadays is not the number of museums but rather their quality; otherwise we will never be able to entice people out of shopping malls.
